Application Process

Who Can Apply

  • Eligibility - Genesis is a statewide school. Any student in the state of Georgia entering grades K-6 can apply to Genesis for the 2017-18 school year. After 2017-18 Genesis will add a grade each year until the school is K-12.
  • No Tuition - Genesis is a free, public school. No tuition is required.
  • Good Standing - Any student in good disciplinary standing can apply. Students serving a suspension or an expulsion in another school or system are not eligible.

Admissions Process

Applications received by March 1st:

  • If there are less applicants than seats by the March 1 deadline, all families who apply by the deadline will be admitted.
  • If there are more applicants than seats by the March 1 deadline, Genesis will hold a lottery to select which scholars are admitted.

Applications received after March 1st:

  • All applicants who apply after the March 1st deadline will be placed on the waitlist based on the date of application.


  • Children of Staff and Board of directors are given priority in admissions
  • Siblings of any students admitted to either the Boys or Girls Academy are also given priority

Admissions Notification:

  • If there is not a lottery, families will be notified of their admission status by March 3
  • If there is a lottery, families will be notified of their admissions status by March 10.
  • Those families who are not admitted will be placed on a waitlist.
  • All admissions notifications will be sent by e-mail.
