Mentoring Our Boys

We established an academy exclusively for young men to address their specific needs.

But our commitment to them goes beyond the classroom—it influences every interaction they have while at school.

What We Do

to becomeWe intentionally surround them with leaders, educators, and positive examples to enrich their lives. Through our mentoring program, we guide boys and young men, holding them accountable and recognizing their efforts in becoming mature, responsible, and compassionate individuals.

At Genesis, we've cultivated a culture that encourages young men to connect their self-perception, character, purpose, and talents, with the bright future they can create and the impactful legacy they can leave behind.

We aim to help them embrace their education, pursue their passions, and envision a harmonious future.

So, we start early and often to provide:

Connecting w/ Mentors
pHImage-02

A place to connect:

Our scholars have daily check-ins with male staff, regular gatherings to meet men who set great examples and offer encouragement. They also get 1-on-1 guidance and attend morning talks with staff to strengthen common goals.

We're a community of men, both young and old, supporting each other and holding up standards like accountability, respect, and compassion every day. This way, scholars learn and grow together.

In December 2022, our ladies as part of the powHer program  our scholars visited the Jackson Spalding Agency.

The 31 eighth graders toured the Atlanta office and spent time learning from Jessie Starke about graphic design, Aerolyn Shaw about social media and Amber Brownfrom JS’ Human Resources team, shared tips on interviewing for their future jobs.

Finally, the girls channeled their best Maria Taylor and spent time in studio on camera reading their purpose statements – their powHER statements. The agency executives worked with Taylor to coach the girls on their delivery, including helping them find their “powHER stance.”

We heard from a young lady who wants to help the homeless, one who wants to be an OB/GYN and another who would like to become a veterinarian.

Connecting w/ Others

A place to connect:

We expand our support network by inviting fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, and other related men to join us in service to others. They provide additional examples for our young scholars.

Since our inception, programs like Fathers Being Involved have been a cornerstone of how we work together with our scholars and the men in their lives to support their success.

Building Self-Awareness

A place to build self-awareness (hands-on):

We offer lots of hands-on opportunities for our young men to explore, discover, and try new things.

Field trips, computer-based learning, and project-based learning give scholars more chances to understand what their interests and passions are, and even more, what they can become.
